Meet The Founder of Edukko
With over a decade of experience teaching in five languages across four countries, I am passionate about personalized education and innovation.
I’m Nelson Barrios, the Founder and CEO of Edukko — a Dubai-based EdTech platform connecting students and families with world-class, curriculum-specialist educators across IB, GCSE, A-Level, MYP, AP, and SAT.
With over 15 years in education and a PGCE in Secondary Education from the University of Nottingham, I’ve taught students across cultures, countries, and curricula. That experience gave me a deep understanding of what personalised learning actually looks like — and what’s missing from the way most students access academic support.
I speak five languages fluently, and I still teach French and Spanish under the Edukko brand. I’m not just building an education company — I’m an educator first, and that shapes every decision I make.
I co-founded Edukko in 2021 to solve a problem I saw every day in the classroom: the gap between what students need and what they can access. Today, our global network of vetted Edukkators has helped hundreds of students across the GCC and beyond overcome academic challenges and reach their goals.
My vision is simple — to build the platform that makes exceptional, personalised education the standard for student communities worldwide, not a privilege for the few.
